Inspired by Trevor Muir's The Collaborative Classroom, collaboration is at the heart of how we teach and learn. We believe that when students and staff work together, they build stronger relationships, engage deeply with learning, and solve problems creatively. Collaboration fosters a community of mutual respect and shared responsibility in our school.
Empower
We empower students to take ownership of their learning, embrace challenges, and ask thoughtful questions. By fostering agency and connecting to real-world contexts and the community, we create confident, engaged learning who see their place in the wider world.
New and/or Necessary
Planning with students is central to creating relevant and meaningful learning experiences. We co-design learning walls, craft clear learning intentions and success criteria, and showcase student work samples. These tools anchor learning in what is both new and necessary, ensuring clarity and engagement for all learners.
Teaching and Learning
Our approach to teaching and learning integrates the thinking routines of Ron Ritchart, encouraging deeper cognitive engagement and reflection. These routines scaffold critical and creative thinking, helping students make connections and construct knowledge in profound ways.
Real Life
Learning comes alive when it's connected to real world. We design tasks that are authentic, practical, and rooted in the experiences students encounter every day. This approach nurtures problem-solving, adaptability, and relevance.
Accessible for all
Guided by the principals of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), we ensure every learner can access and engage with the curriculum. Differentiated strategies and flexible pathways are built into our planning so all students can thrive, regardless of their starting point.
Leveraging Digital
Using the SAMR model as our guide, we integrate technology to transform learning. By moving through substitution, augmentation, modification, and into redefinition, we unlock opportunities for deep, authentic learning that equips students with essential skills for the modern world.
