We understand that experiences and opportunities within, and outside the classroom are what helps to build a dynamic school culture. We are already planning a range of clubs, teams and events that our students will be invited to join or participate in. Our staff have identified some of their passions, interests and skills that we may be able to offer, however, we also acknowledge that further learning and training on our behalf may be needed to provide further opportunities for our students' passions and interests. Some of our future extra-curricular opportunities are unpacked below:

EPIC Air – Our School Radio Station

Wednesday 1st Break in Epic Air (Level 1, Galah Building) 

EPIC Air is Ripley Central's very own school radio and podcasting station! Broadcasting live on Wednesday during lunch break, EPIC Air keeps our school entertained with music, shout-outs, and student-led segments while we play. It's all about creating a positive vibe, celebrating our community, and building student voice.

Ripley Entrepreneur Club

Wednesday morning in Epic Air (Level 1, Galah Building)

Our Entrepreneur Club is a fun, hands-on space for students to learn about business, creativity, and teamwork! Whether it's starting a mini-business, designing your own products, or learning about marketing and finances, this club helps you explore and develop real-world skills!

Ripley Rockers Rock Band

Wednesday morning in Instrumental Room (School Hall)

Our Rock Band is a separate extension of the Instrumental Music Program, open to selected students from Prep to Year 6. It's designed for students with a basic to strong understanding of music who enjoy performing and exploring a range of styles from classic rock to modern pop. The band includes bass guitar, electric guitar, drums, keyboard, and vocalists.

eSports Team

Monday 1st Break in Esports Room (Curiosity Centre)

Our eSports Team represents the school in the Fuse Cup, competing against other schools across South East Queensland. Using Nintendo Switch consoles, students compete in teams of four in games like Mario Kart, Just Dance, and Rocket League.

Culture Club

Tuesday 1st Break in Art Studio

Culture Club is a space for students who are curious about the many cultures within our school and around the world. Students explore traditions through art, dancing, language, storytelling and research. It's a place to celebrate diversity, share personal backgrounds, and learn more about the world we live in.

FISAF Dance Crew

Prep and Year 3 – Friday morning in Dance Studio (School Hall)

Year 1 and 2 – Wednesday afternoon in Dance Studio (School Hall)

Students in Prep to Year 3 can audition at the start of each year to join our FISAF (Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness)  Dance Crew. These teams train in the style of sports aerobics and represent the school at competitions across QLD. Once teams are selected, no new members are added until the end of the competition season. Both boys and girls are encouraged to give it a go.

Cheer Crew

Cheer training occurs during lunch breaks – times TBC

Our Cheer Crew is open to students in Years 4 to 6 who have a passion for dance, gymnastics and teamwork. Each year, interested students are invited to apply to join this energetic and committed team. The Cheer Crew promotes school spirit, positive engagement, and physical activity. Members build skills in teamwork, discipline, and confidence while preparing for performances and competitions. Once selected, teams remain fixed until the end of the competition season. Both boys and girls are encouraged to participate.

Drum Corp – Bucket Drummers

Monday mornings in Instrumental Room (Hall)

Open to all students from Prep to Year 6, our Bucket Drummers learn the fundamentals of rhythm, tempo, and beat. Using drumsticks and plastic buckets, students create high-energy, street-style performances in sync with music. It's a fun, hands-on way to build musical skills and perform as a group.

Friday 1st break in Esports Room (Curiosity Centre)

Minecraft Club is for students who share a passion for creativity, building and problem-solving in the world of Minecraft. Meeting in our eSports lab, students collaborate to design new worlds, invent items, take on challenges, and explore the endless possibilities the game has to offer.

Thursday During Class – Music Room (School Hall)

Choir is open to students in Years 2–6 who have a passion for singing and music. Students audition at the beginning of each year, or new students can express interest during enrolment. Choir members learn to sing in harmony and prepare for a range of performances throughout the year.

Skit S​quad

Skit Squad is for students who already display a level of confidence that allows them to talk and present in front of an audience. During rehearsal, students learn about improvisation, creativeness and collaboration.

Why Join?

  • Learn to use body language, facial expressions and voice
  • Foster imagination and creativity

EPIC Air

Our school radio and pod casting station, ‘EPIC Air’, will be a lunchtime broadcasting station that entertains our school as we play. Initially planning for one day per week where our broadcasters select, mix and play music during play times.  Our EPIC Air room will officially go live in Term 2, with some prior training and student selection occurring in Term 1.


Koala Kitchen

‘Koala Kitchen’ will open in Term 2 and will house our own Master Chef kitchen and Bake House for the production of our specially branded sugar cookies and cooking classes. We will work with our student bakers to create a small business model to bake and sell sugar cookies, with a special option to purchase a class set of sugar cookies for your child’s class birthday celebrations. We will also look for opportunities for our little Master Chefs to have cooking classes alongside chefs and produce their own cooking vlogs with recipe ideas.  


Readers Cup

‘Readers Cup’ is a competition-based program for Year 3 & 4 students and will commence later in Term 1, with the competition date in Term 2. Initially this will be a school-based competition, with plans to enter future teams into regional competitions. 

 

Rock Band

Our ‘Rock Band’ will have opportunities for selected Preps and Year 4-6 students. This is an extension to our Instrumental Music Program and is offered separately. Our Rock Band aims to be performance ready for the end of 2023 and we look forward to their first ‘live’ performance. Instruments included in our Rock Band are the bass guitar, electric guitar, drums, keyboard and will include vocalists. 

 

eSports

Our 'eSports Team' will be set to take on other students across the South East in the Fuse Cup using our Nintendo Switch devices. We look forward to also hosting staff v's student competitions in Just Dance and Rocket League. 


Japanese Culture and Language 

Our 'Japanese Culture and Language' club will be an opportunity for those interested in learning more about Japanese language and culture and who may be considering studying Japanese as a language as they transition to high school.   



Passion Project Club

The 'Passion Project Club' will be offered as an extension of our Homework Policy and an opportunity for students to work at school, once per week, on their Passion Project with the support of staff.   



Dance Crew

Our 'Dance Crew' will rehearse in our Dance and Drama Studio (from Term 2) and we look forward to their performances throughout the year, along with opportunities to represent our school in FISAF (sport aerobics and fitness).
